The Buying Path

When do tickets go on sale?

FIFA opens sales in five sequential phases. Confirm exact dates at FIFA.com/tickets - we don't list dates FIFA hasn't officially confirmed.

1

Visa Presale Draw

Phase 1 - earliest window

For: Visa cardholders only

Submit ticket requests for the matches you want; FIFA picks winners by lottery if demand exceeds supply. Must pay with a Visa card. Selected applicants notified by email and given a payment window.

2

Random Selection Draw

Phase 2 - after Visa closes

For: Anyone with a FIFA ID

Open to all FIFA ID holders worldwide. Submit requests; lottery decides allocation. The most realistic chance to get tickets to popular matches (Final, openers, host-team games).

3

First-Come-First-Served

Phase 3 - after both draws

For: Anyone with a FIFA ID

Remaining tickets go on sale in real time. Fastest applicants get them. Have your FIFA ID logged in, payment card saved, and refresh aggressively when the window opens.

4

Last-Minute Sales

Phase 4 - days before each match

For: Anyone with a FIFA ID

FIFA releases unsold or returned tickets through the FIFA app close to kickoff. Best chance for casual fans to grab a same-day ticket - usually for less popular matches.

5

FIFA Resale Hub

Continuous - throughout tournament

For: Anyone with a FIFA ID

Buyers and sellers transact at FIFA-set prices (capped at face value). The only legitimate secondary market. Tickets sold outside the Resale Hub are cancelled.

Pricing Tiers

Ticket categories

Common questions

World Cup 2026 Tickets FAQ

When do 2026 World Cup tickets go on sale?+

FIFA sells 2026 World Cup tickets in several phases starting roughly 12-15 months before kickoff. The standard sequence is (1) Visa Presale Draw for Visa cardholders, (2) Random Selection Draw open to everyone with a FIFA ID, (3) First-Come-First-Served sale, and (4) Last-Minute Sales close to each match. Always check FIFA.com/tickets for the exact dates - we will not list dates here that FIFA has not confirmed.

Where do I officially buy World Cup 2026 tickets?+

Only at FIFA.com/tickets. FIFA is the sole authorized seller. The FIFA app is also used for mobile delivery and entry. Anyone else claiming to sell official tickets - including "travel packages" that include tickets - is either reselling on the FIFA Resale Hub, going through FIFA's official Hospitality program (On Location), or operating outside FIFA's system. Buy direct whenever possible.

How much do World Cup 2026 tickets cost?+

FIFA prices tickets in four categories per match. For reference, the 2022 World Cup priced Group Stage tickets from about $69 (Category 4, residents only) to $220 (Category 1), while Final tickets ranged from $605 to $1,607. The 2026 tournament is expected to be priced significantly higher given USA market norms. FIFA publishes the final price grid when sales open.

What is a FIFA ID and do I need one?+

Yes. A FIFA ID is a free account at FIFA.com that you must create before applying for tickets. It links your name, photo, and ID to every ticket you buy. Tickets are personalized - the FIFA ID holder must be present at the stadium. You can transfer tickets to a friend or family member through the FIFA app, but only to another verified FIFA ID.

Are World Cup tickets paper or mobile?+

Mobile only. The 2026 FIFA World Cup uses digital tickets delivered through the FIFA app. There are no paper tickets. Make sure your phone is charged on match day, save the ticket offline, and have your photo ID matching your FIFA ID account ready at the gate.

What is Visa Presale and how does it work?+

Visa is FIFA's official payment partner. Visa cardholders get the first opportunity to apply for tickets through the Visa Presale Draw, typically several weeks before the general public Random Draw opens. You must pay with a Visa card to participate. Selected applicants are notified by email and given a window to complete purchase.

What is the difference between Random Draw and First-Come-First-Served?+

In the Random Selection Draw you submit ticket requests for any matches you want; if demand exceeds supply, FIFA picks winners by lottery. In the First-Come-First-Served phase, remaining tickets are released in real time and the fastest fingers get them. Most popular matches (the Final, opener, USA/Mexico/Canada matches) sell out in the Random Draw phase.

Can I resell my World Cup ticket?+

Yes, but only through FIFA's official Resale Hub on FIFA.com. You cannot legally sell on StubHub, Vivid Seats, eBay, or directly to another person. Tickets sold outside the FIFA Resale Hub are cancelled and the buyer is denied entry. Listed prices on the Resale Hub are capped at the original face value.

Are sites like StubHub and Vivid Seats safe for World Cup tickets?+

No - they are not authorized FIFA resale channels for the World Cup. FIFA tickets sold outside the FIFA Resale Hub are typically cancelled before kickoff, and you may be refused entry at the gate even if you paid thousands. The only safe secondary market is the FIFA Resale Hub. We strongly recommend buying official tickets directly.

What are FIFA Hospitality packages?+

FIFA Hospitality (operated by On Location) bundles premium tickets with food, drinks, lounge access, parking, and sometimes hotels and transfers. Packages range from $1,500 per match to $30,000+ per Final. They are the only legitimate way to bundle tickets with travel. Sold separately from regular FIFA tickets at fifaworldcuphospitality.com.

How can I get tickets to the World Cup Final at MetLife Stadium?+

The 2026 World Cup Final is on July 19, 2026 at MetLife Stadium in New York / New Jersey. Final tickets are the hardest to get - sold via Random Draw, then a small remainder via First-Come-First-Served. Hospitality packages from On Location include guaranteed Final access at premium prices ($10,000-30,000+). Demand will far exceed supply.

Are World Cup tickets refundable?+

Generally no - FIFA's terms allow refunds only if a match is cancelled outright. If a match is rescheduled, postponed, or moved venues, your ticket usually carries over. If you can't attend, list it on the FIFA Resale Hub at face value. Travel insurance with event-cancellation coverage is recommended for international travelers.

Can I buy World Cup tickets for kids?+

Yes. FIFA typically offers a discounted Category 4 youth or family rate for some matches. Children under a certain age (usually 4 or 5) often need a free "infant in arms" ticket - check FIFA's policy for the exact age threshold. Each child still needs a FIFA ID.

Is accessible seating available at the World Cup?+

Yes. Every host stadium has wheelchair-accessible seating with companion seats, and some have low-vision and audio-description options. You request accessibility tickets through FIFA.com - submit documentation if required. Apply early; accessibility seats are limited.

How do I avoid fake World Cup tickets?+

Buy only at FIFA.com/tickets, the FIFA app, or the FIFA Resale Hub. Never buy from someone outside the stadium, on social media, in WhatsApp groups, or on classifieds. If a price seems too good or someone offers "hard-to-get" tickets through unofficial channels, it is almost certainly a scam. Real FIFA tickets are mobile-only and tied to a specific FIFA ID.
